Museum Of Abandoned Spaces - Museum Series - Arsalan Nasir

The 2025 Art Space Grant was awarded to Vasl Artists’ Association, a Karachi-based artist-led platform that facilitates dialogue between diverse artistic communities. Through residencies, exhibitions, and education programs, they amplify underrepresented voices and nurture artistic freedom across South Asia.

Founded in 2001, Vasl Artists’ Association is a Karachi-based non-profit organization and a member of the Triangle Network*. The word vasl, rooted in Urdu and Persian poetry, signifies “union” or “coming together,” capturing the organization’s mission to foster creative connection, collaboration, and freedom of expression. Over the past two decades, Vasl has hosted more than 700 local and international artists through residencies, workshops, and public programs, facilitating dialogue between diverse artistic communities. Its ongoing initiatives include exhibitions, mentorship programs, and educational outreach that bridge gaps between artists, students, and audiences. By promoting cultural exchange, sustainability, and inclusion, Vasl nurtures experimental practices and critical discourse that challenge social and political narratives, positioning art as a catalyst for understanding and transformation.

*Triangle Network is a global network of artists and visual arts organisations that support professional development and cultural exchange amongst artists, curators and other arts professionals throughout the world.
