The 2025 Art Space Grant was awarded to CAMPO Arte Contemporânea, a creative collective and independent cultural center grounded in counter-colonial thought and collective learning. Through residencies, performances, and community projects, they support local and global networks in and beyond Teresina, Northeast of Brazil.
Founded in 2016, CAMPO Arte Contemporânea is an autonomous space for artistic creation, formation and resistance. Conceived as both a residency and a platform for sharing, CAMPO connects artists and local communities through creation and dialogue. Hosting over 50 local and international artists each year, It offers studios, accommodations, production support, critical reflection and contexts of engagement for projects that address urgent social and cultural issues in Brazil’s Northeast. Its public programs (artistical residencies for artists and non artists, performances, exhibitions, workshops and talking circles) generates confluences between people, communities, art and daily life. CAMPO’s mission is grounded in counter-colonial thought and collective learning, reaffirming art’s place as a force for regenerating equity and imaginative potential of society. By building networks between local and global scenes grounded on healthy co-existence, it strengthens Piauí’s cultural ecosystem while amplifying voices historically excluded from mainstream narratives.

Collaborative management core: Regina Veloso, Marcelo Evelin, Milde Alves, Gui de Areia, Maurício Pokemon, Bruno Moreno and João Marcos. Four portals shape CAMPO’s artistic thinking: Demolition Incorporada (performing arts), Revoada (artistic production and management), Estúdio Debaixo (visual arts) and Ateliê Atelier (fashion and crafts). Each of these engages in rhizomatic collaboration, such as with Original Bomber Crew, Fernanda Silva, among others, and local, national, and international communities, regularly proposing residencies, festivals, occupations, exhibitions and festivities to artists and non-artist alike.
The Art Space Grant is a collaboration between KADIST and AFIELD.
